I had a Kenlowe fan on an (ahem) MGBGT - it had both a thermostat & manual 
switch.
Worked fine - although it rarely cut in. The only minor snag was fiddling with 
the
capilliary tube that sat under a top hose clamp in a bit of squishy rubber.
Or something like that - this was some years ago.
