Jay, I suspect that other list members will be able to help you more,
but my Italia w/TR-3 engine has always smoked a little through the
filler cap. I know that the later models had a vented valve cover where
the vacuum from the intake manifold or carbs pulled the oil-laden air
back into the system.
I guess what we need is a definition of "a lot" of smoke. Also, and
list, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Jay be seeing smoke out the
exhaust if there was a burnt valve?
