Malcom,

You are correct, and this part is shown in the TRF catalog as EW10, part
number UKC2211, on page 339. The description os this part is:

"Capacitor, radio suppression, secured by rear bolt which also secures
ignition coil mounting bracket; connects to positive side of coil."

You were also correct in your other statements as well. The best thing to do
is remove it and see what happens. Modern radios probably do not need this
capacitor.

This question comes up at least 5 times a year, and would be a good candidate
for your FAQ.
