Ken, Brian and the rest of the list,

I received the replacement set of carpet thursday afternoon. Initially there
had been two problems with the carpet as originally supplied to me. First
problem was the rear deck carpet didn't fit right where it folded down
around the drive shaft hump. The carpet supplied was for a TR4A. The
replacement piece that was sent seems to fit very nicely now around the
drive shaft hump. So I'm satisfied with that.

The second problem was the lower section of carpet that fits on the tranny
tunnel housing. The piece supplied originally was again for a TR4A and
didn't have a hole cut in it, instead it had a U shaped cutout. That was fine
for the TR4A where the console support has the extension that surrounds
the shift lever. Where as on the TR4 that extension does not exist so the
upper portion of the U exposed the tunnel housing itself. The piece that
was sent on friday is better in that they provided no cutout at all for the
shift lever. Basically its up to me to cut the hole and get an edge sewn
around it. For myself I don't mind getting that taken care of. Other people
might have a problem with that.

On the whole, the quality of the carpet is very nice. All pieces with the
above exception seem to fit very well. Considering its almost $100 cheaper
than the nearest match which is the carpeting from Moss that Brian is
talking about I fell its a good deal.

Its entirely possible that the carpet supplier may still correct the problem
with the tunnel cover piece. I neglected to ask Mark Walker that question.

The only other comments I would make about the carpet are about the
piece that covers the side wall of the drivers footwell and the footwell floor
carpeting. The original carpeting had a little rubber pad on the sidewall
carpeting where your foot pushes against the dimmer switch. This
carpeting does not. I consider that a small item not worth worrying about.
The only reason I brought up the footwell floor carpeting is because the
original set of carpeting didn't have carpeting in the foot wells they had
some kind of rubber mats (per Art Kelly). The carpeting supplied for the
footwells I'm quite happy with. Apparently there is no known supplier for
the original style of rubber floor mats.

On the whole I'm glad I bought the carpeting and am quite pleased with it.
However, YMMV.

If you wish to contact Mark Walker he can be reached at 800-332-7893. The
company name is South Eastern Fabrics.

Hope this helps some of you out there make some decisions about your
carpeting choices!!
