My trunion bushings needed honing. I put a drill (maybe 3/8" dia) in my
drill press, taped a piece of 150 grit sandpaper to it, and wound it around
the drill (stuffing a few small pieces of cardboard in) to the point where
it was snug in the bushing. Then it was sand and check the fit, sand and
check the fit, and so on until I got it to the point of fitting really tight
on the trunion. Be careful to try and keep the centerlines of the bushing
and sandpaper (drill) as close as possible. It seemed to work.

I'm going to use my new fulcrum bushings. Not as tight as what I want, but
it will give me something to change 20 years from now when my car is done
and on the road.

I'm going to make a spring compressor next week. I think a 2 1/2" x 4" x
1/4" thick plate drilled to fit the lower shock mounts. Then I'll run a
threaded rod through the center of the plate up through the upper shock
mounting hole. I have a 1/2" rod, but I may pick up something larger. In
theory, I should be able to tighten the nuts on the threaded rod, drawing
the lower spring mounting plate up to the lower a arms. To be sure, I'll be
standing off to the side. I took the springs off using an outside spring
compressor on the inside of the springs. It didn't work well.
