TR6 Frame ID #

Does anyone know of a source that can identify the year of the car by other
than the chassis #?

There is some discrepency as to what year out TR6 is, the title claimed
1979, we went to the CHP and got a new Calif id # but they put the TR as a
74, the chassis # id tag had Nov 72.

I read, I think in the Moss catalog, that the body number should be the same
as the chassis number but with a different set of letters? Ours didn't
match.

The two tags on the firewall read;
Top tag    48 CR
bottom    T 1812 CF

Frame #  (by the oil filter)  D 04228
