In the UK I believe TR6's were fitted with a Lucas 17ACR unit with built in
regulator. In fact virtually all British mainline production cars were
fitted with this type of alternator from the early seventies for many years.
They are plentiful secondhand or reconditioned in UK and available from £ 10
or so. It may be worth the shipping to US of A???
