Bob,
        The only hardware that I can recall dealing with in carpet installation
is the snaps. If this is the case, fit the carpet piece exactly where it
should stay and mark the male snap location on the carpet using chalk.
Remove the carpet and press the prong ring through the carpet over the
chalk mark, turn the carpet over and slip the ring over the prongs and
using a pair of pliers, bend the prongs toward the inside of the ring.
You might want to trial fit the carpet piece after installing each
female snap to insure a perfect fit.
