I have found a source for a seemingly identical item. You'll really
see this
stuff across the windscreen under that chrome trim strip and sealing the
clutch/brake
cylinders and booster to the body. It is either black or gray, you
can trim off what
shows, so I use the gray. Every item mounted through the firewall was
sealed with
this stuff. Its a latex type item in a roll of 3/16" threads.

This works really well when sealing the door panels per more modern
cars... I use
the new door panel's plastic bag, cut to fit the open area plus 1/2"
around the edges
and then "glue" this into place with a dual thread of this magic
stuff. The nice part
is its removable, flexible and never hardens (cleans up easily).

For the a sample of this amazing item, please send $1 and a SASE to...
(just joking!)

Home stores in the area carry this stuff, but its hard to find, usually
near the door
weatherstrip'ing section, 3"x3"x1" box with 1" hanging tab, black with
yellow/white.
