Right. The Vanguard engine is the engine that was later "modified" for the
TR2-4 and SHOULD(?) take the same valve cover gasket. And that Vanguard
engine was also found in the Triumph 2000 Roadster as well as Saloon (aka
Renown). Earlier versions of the roadster and razoredge saloon used a
pre-war Standard engine. Note, too, that some Standard (or Triumph)
Atlases used the "mighty" 948cc Standard 10/Triumph Herald engine -- no
relation at all to the wet-liner unit!

And then there are those Ferguson tractor owners looking for upgraded
valve cover gaskets, right? ;-)

I don't remember exactly when Morgan started using the wet-liner Standard
engine, but it was before the TR2 version was developed (maybe 1949-50?).
But the TR engine was used through at least 1967 in the +4, when
production of that engine ceased.
