Over the weekend I finished blending 40 years of dents, dings and whatever,
with body filler. The metal on the car is solid but because of the many
imperfections I used a skim cost of filler on quite a bit of the car. I am
very pleased with the results. Now I am attempting to put a coat of glazing
putty and I am going crazy. This stuff is thinner than the consistancy of
mayonaise and has a very short working cycle (about 3 minutes). The flat
sections are not too bad, but the curves on the fenders are brutal. All the
blending that I did originally is now covered with ridges and other problems
and it's like starting over. Am I doing something wrong, or is this how it's
supposed to work?
BTW the glazing putty is a product called ICING and it is white with a red
hardener. The resulting mix is pink. The body of my TR3A looks like a MARY
KAY nightmare, and all that pink sanding dust looks, well... quite unusual to
say the least.
Suggestions from anyone with experience in this area is greatly appreciated.
