Front suspension seals - (I think I've beat this thing to death)

A final update on the saga of the failed TR3A lower wishbone bushing seals(I
hope):

I have purchased some seals from Moss just for comparisons sake. (TRF sent
a complete set of 16 new seals free of charge). The seals from Moss appear
to be made from a slightly different type of material than the ones from
TRF. The Moss seals are smoother, and a tad bigger in diameter than the TRF
seals. Both seem to be resistant to the "fingernail cut test" and the
"two-handed stretch test". <g> I think I will install the TRF seals on one
side, and the Moss seals on the other side. If the seals again fail, I will
probably only have to do one side next time. (I'll also know where to buy
them).

To note: John Suager of TRF said they had stretched a few of their seals
around a large socket, dipped them in oil, them let them sit around in the
air for quite some time without any adverse reactions, splitting, etc.

One lister offered to have my broken seals tested at a nearby
chemical/polymer lab. I think I'll send him a couple of my used seals, as
well as one new one from both Moss and TRF.

So...It appears that if you are going to install new front suspension seals
on
your car, there is no clear cut superior vendor to buy from. Like the old
saying goes: "Ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances". <g>

Thanks, Dennis
