Let 'political correctness' (which posture I spurn as I
would a rabid dog) and pedantry raise their ugly heads.
The British are often mis-nationalised as the 'English' -
when this is the language that we wretched souls on this
allegedly sceptered isle are inclined to speak. Now that we
are all 'Europeans' and part of Fortress Europe (for better
or ill), it seems our masters in Brussels, Strasbourg,
Oxshott, Bagshot and Barking feel that to call ourselves
British is wrong. This is too nationalist and we no longer
live in Britain but the United Kingdom.
Thus, it doesn't require a number ten size hat to now term
ourselves United Kingdomians - which may well find itself
contracted to someting similar Condo with the passage of not
too much more time?
