     In summary:

I received 6 responses to the question on how to keep the newly
     cleaned accel. linkage clean.

     Use a polish (Autosol) : 1 response
     Spray paint & wax : 2 responses
Eastwood "Diamond Clear" or similar : 2 responses
Powder coat (guess who!) : 1 response

For now I intend to give the linkage a good coat of polish/wax,
spend the winter looking for an old oven, and possibly powder coat
     next year.

I also received 6 responses to my complaint about the Pertroinx
     Ignitor electronic ignition:

     No problems : 2 responses
Build bench test setup : 1 response
Check the magnets : 1 response
Same symptoms/went back to points : 2 responses

I have the spare time/parts to build a bench tester, so that looks
like the first priority. I'll also be checking the magnets in the
     plastic collar (number/polarity).

But I'll definitely keep a spare set of points handy!!

Thanks to all for the info,
     Rick
