I think the suggestion is valid, I just hate RTV!   It actually will pull 
away from the metal it's supposed to seal, and if it does stick is a bugger 
to remove (I know, sounds a little contradictory), I would go for a high 
quality non hardening gasket sealer or Permatex makes a red gooey liquid 
especially for this purpose which I have used with great success.
