I bought a relatively cheap engine stand at Checker and bolted the engine
(sans trans of course) to the rear engine plate at four evenly (as possible)
spaced locations with some grade 5 bolts I picked up at the local hardware
store. It has been on the stand for more years than I wish to admit with no
problems. I did support the front of the engine with a 2x4 towards the front.
