This is old hat for many of you but something new for me. For the first
time in 30+ years of British car ownership I now have 2 LBCs at the same
time. The acquisition is a 1964 TR4 -- the "Maui Car" that was on eBay
last November and much discussed on the list.

It arrived this a.m. courtesy of Matson (shipping) and Across America
(transport) both of whom did what they promised in a timely and
efficient manner (NFI).

The car is pretty much as expected -- quite driveable but in need of
thorough sorting out and attention to a rather tired interior. I'm sure
I will have many questions in the weeks (and years) to come and I know
where to ask them. I will start with these 2:

1. The car is now negative ground. Because the radio is still + ground
and the ammeter reads backwards I suspect that someone may have simply
installed the battery the wrong way 'round. Am I correct that sometimes
this (just reversing the battery) can successfully polarize the starter
and generator for negative ground? I realize this is not the
recommended approach, I will do it properly when I change back to +
ground, but is there anything likely to have been damaged if the battery
was reversed without other preparations?

2. Might someone with a digital camera send me a snapshot of how the
hood sticks should look in their fully lowered and locked position? I
don't think mere words will do it. I have them lowered but not sure how
that front hinged section in particular should be nested so everything
tucks in nicely under the stick cover.

Thanks for any help.
