Your choice, but that's what I did.

If memory serves, I put the other end under the gas tank strap bolt, along
with the fuel gage sender ground. Any connection to the body will do, as
long as you can make it clean and tight, but I don't like adding holes if I
can avoid it. Otherwise the 'Swiss cheese' effect builds up over the years
