Dear Listers,

A week or so ago I listed a problem a mate of mine was having with his
Spitfire missing at certain RPMs. You all provided all kinds of helpfull
advice that he took. But alas, his Spit still was missing. He resorted to
taking it to a British Car shop in Elgin who was able to fix the problem.
Here's what my mate told me:

"tell the gang it was a leaky EGR valve. the only reason I didnt take that
off and mess with it is because it was real nice brass and I didnt want to
scratch it up, and it was also on there since new and the rust aroung the
intake manifold had that baby welded in place!

..but Im going to splurge and put on a weber conversion. what the hell you
only live once.

snowing like a madman here 1st snow of year, so I probably wont pick the
spit up for months!"

Thanks for all you help.
