Your email brought back fond memories of the first drive I took in my TR3B.
It was pretty much in the exact same shape as yours, except I had put on the
bonnet and tied it down with rope. It was the first time I'd ever had the
car on the road, and had no confidence in it staying together, so I drove
around the block a couple times basically at an idle. Then I decided to see
what it would be like if I punched it a little. I accelerated quite
nicely... well enough to cause that bonnet rope to come loose, bonnet to fly
upward, break the hinges, bounce of my head, end up in the street behind the
car. No big deal... put the bonnet back in the car to put in the garage...
and then back on the road!
