if you are really worried about it, remove the thermostat and crank the
engine without starting it, top it off, reinstall the thermostat.

preface: 1972 gt6 engine - fresh rebuild. just finished assembling on
the engine stand last night. i have everything (really everything)
hooked up including the exhaust (on it's own stand), radiator, battery
(on floor), fuel line (going to separate tank on floor). the car is in
a custom body paint shop (getting the austin powers brit flag paint job)
and will not be back for months. question 1) is it okay to prep and
start the engine on the engine stand ? i plan to crank the engine
without the coil hooked up, to assure the oil pressure is up and oil is
everywhere before firing (15 seconds of crank, 1 minute of starter rest
till i see). question 2) radiator fluid... it is easy to fill the
radiator but what about the block itself ? from what i remember doing
this before, the block can develop an 'air gap' preventing from filling
with coolant fluid. how can i assure myself that the block also is full
of coolant ?
