>From memory the pulley is about 4 inches in diameter, say 10 cms. The
circumference then becomes about 31.4 cms. Therefore each degree is .87 mm.
A good place to set the timing to start with is static 5degrees btdc. Make a
mark say 5 mm along the pulley against the direction of rotation and make
the points break at that.. After that when the engine is running you do road
tests and play with the vernier timing adjustment on the side of the
distributor for best results.

 This works for me., anyway.
