I hate to tell you this, but a good rear end doesn't whine at all.  In fact
a properly set up ring and pinion, with no wear emits NO noticeable noise
(above the ambient road noise) from the diff.  Assuming that it is full of
gear oil, this is classic gear whine caused by wear or if worked on, an
improperly set up gear set.  Bearings will typically rumble and growl
