Hi Lucien
I don't know a lot about the TR6 but I know a fair bit about the injection
having completely rebuilt the injection on my 2.5PI saloon.
If you are looking for concourse then I guess you will need to make sure it
is running on the original pump, if you are looking for a daily driver you
can rely on then I would recommend the Bosch pump conversion. An injected
engine should start as well as a properly set up carburetted engine, one or
two turns of the crank, should idle as smooth as silk at 800rpm and will
still run down to 450rpm (ish) even with the 150bhp cam, though it may get a
little shaky that low. It is not unusual for them to run a little black
especially if the metering unit is original, they were not a clean engine
when new. They will display the characteristics of injection the same as the
Bosch kjet equipped cars (Audi VW etc) they should rev very quickly when the
throttle is opened and return to idle quickly when the throttle is closed,
it is this kind of response which makes the injection so nice to drive.
Feel free to ask any direct questions about the injection. What I know is
self taught from the necessity of being on an Island where there are no
injection specialists with any knowledge of the car!
I can point you to the best internet sources for info on the Injection.
The best source of all is the Lucas Service Training Manual which was
available as a reprint through the 2000 2.5 Register.

Graham.
