Randall, I have never attempted this in a Triumph, but I recently added a
Universal Sony MP3 10 disc changer to our PT Cruiser. Why a changer? I
don't like the controls on the modern MP3 head units. The buttons are too
small for my tastes and most of the players have removeable or hide away
faceplates that don't feel very solid when you are pushing the buttons. The
stock PT Cruiser radio has nice big pre-set buttons, included a decent size
knob for the volume. Alas, there is no tuner knob, just a couple of tiny
little arrows to tune up or down with. Back to the MP3 player, it's an RF
modulated changer and it comes with a neat wireless remote control. The
only downsides to it that I've found are it takes a few seconds to change
from song to song in random mode and the directory feature for finding a
particular track is cumbersome (that's a polite way of saying that I haven't
figured it out yet).

Here is the website that provided lots of good info:
http://www.highwaymp3.com/hwmp3.htm . They review most players and have an
extensive forum area.

I purchased the changer from Crutchfield.com, although I saw it for cheaper
at Frys a couple of months later. Installation was very easy.

I currently enjoy Kazaalite for downloading MP3 files, having also tried
Morpheus and a few others. Napster was the best, sadly it's gone the way of
the Dodo.

Subject: Sorta LBC - CD MP3 player ?

| The time has come to get some tunes in the Stag, and an in-dash CD MP3
| player seems like the way to go. Does anyone have some suggestions, or
| horror stories to share ?
|
| At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP as it seems to
| offer everything I want, including the all-important MP3 pause and resume
| features. (Pause allows you to stop playback temporarily, resume means the
| unit will continue playing from where it left off even after the ignition
| has been turned off and back on.) It also allows fast forward and reverse
| within an MP3 track, which is nice.
|
| Does anyone have a better suggestion ?
|
| Yes, I know I should be happy with the burble of the exhaust and the
rushing
| of the wind ... but I do commute to work in this car and somehow the
exhaust
| of the SUV next to me just doesn't play the same tune ! The dash has
| already been hacked up to fit a DIN-sized stereo, so that's not a concern
| either.
|
| TIA
| Randall
