Trying to shim the body on the frame to get door alignment - this could
take a while! - and I discover I have a worn pin in the lower door hinge.
It doesn't look too bad but I see that just a small bit of wear translates
to a large amount of play at the back end of the door. It is hard to tell
whether it's the pin, or the hole in the hinge around the bottom of the pin
that's worn, so am looking for input from someone with experience in this:
a) Are the pins supposed to come out of the *&^%$ hinge? I guess so but I
have tried everything on this one; no luck so far.
b) Is it likely the hinge that's worn anyway, so that there is no point in
trying to take it apart? (Note these are the later steel ones, not brass.)
c) Should I try to adjust the body to accommodate some hinge/pin wear?
What a pain this job is.
Thanks,
Jim
