Hi All,
As many of you know I'm wrapping up the resto on my sports6. I have
been very pleased with the progress; I plan to take it to the
Southeastern VTR in Tallahassee Florida in two weeks. My plan is to
drive her "TESSY" as much as possible to build confidence in her,
especially since My wife will be driving her with one daughter an I will
be in the TR3 with the other daughter.
Well today I was driving her around running errands along with my
daughters, when all of a sudden the rear end felt as if it had come
loose; the rear began to start jumping. I pulled over to the side and
began looking underneath but I could not see anything immediate. We were
stopped beside a very busy intersection. I radioed my wife and asked her
call a wrecker, within a few minutes it arrived and it was loaded on the
roll back. When we arrived at the house I jacked her up to investigate
the problem, at this point I'm thinking the worst. I'd turn the wheels
and the rear end would thump and jump.. I crawled under her and looked
closely at the rear flange area, what I found was that one of the four
bolts the mount the diff to the front plate had backed out. The prop
shaft bolt heads were hitting with each revolution. I tighten up the
loose bolt and checked all the others, dropped her off the jack stands
and drove her around the block. No new sounds or jumping.. I sure am
relieved and happy..
