List -- this was the question about a 62 TR4 with what appears to be a 
too tall rear ride height...

Looking at some parts books it appears that at CT 23383 they went to 
different springs that in turn required that big 'distance piece', 
longer u-bolts and longer check straps... also a different bottom plate.

If someone used the later springs on an early TR4 without the other 
pieces I think the effect would be an additional height in the rear... 
several inches in fact.

What I do not know is how to tell whether you have the early or late 
springs on there -- perhaps a simple measurement or even the number of 
leaves.

I am referring this back to the list as I expect someone there will know 
the difference.
