I like Hylomar.  Preferably the original, but Hylomar HPF will do.

Coat both sides of the gasket with Hylomar.

Make sure the mating surfaces are absolutely clean and dry with no traces of old
gaskets or sealing compound.  For the oil pan, the surface should be checked for
flatness and corrected if necessary, especially any dimpling around the bolt
holes (from overtightening).  The other surfaces should also be checked for
flatness and any burrs.  (Where practical, I like to lightly rub a fine tooth
flat file over the surface, to check for high spots.)
