I spent the day cleaning 45 years of grease and oil off of and out of the
tranny. ( finally found that the Brits mean kerosene when they say parafin!!)
While cleaning inside the bell housing I had specs of metal in the rag. Similar
in size to small salt grains. Is this an issue?
On the same note, I ordered front and rear tranny seals as well as all the
gaskets. I KNOW I am leaking from the rear seal and hope that most of the crap
inside the bell is from the front tranny seal as I am not planning on doing
the rear main on the engine. ( all I have under the rear main is a thin
coating, (very thin) of oil) There was substantial grease inside the bell.
Moving on every day with 52 days to go!!
