Dyarrl,

Does the starter seem to be turning the engine over fairly briskly?  I know 
when I replaced my tired starter with a modern gear reduction model, I 
noticed a *huge* difference in the initial cold startup of the car.  You 
might also want to check your choke linkage and make sure it's functioning 
properly.  Do you have the original type fuel pump with the priming lever? 
If so, have you tried give it a few pumps before starting?
