I use Fram PH2870A or equivalent -- really don't know for sure if this
is okay other than I have used them for many years and it is used for
somewhat similar 4-cylinder (German) engines. Its size and proportions
sort of mimic the shape of the canister (true of many filters).

For paint I use ACE hardware's 'Safety Green' -- not enough blue for a
match but was close enough for me. I have attached a photo showing what
I believe is the original paint color (the dollar bill is there so one
can 'please adjust your set' to match a real dollar and have a truer
picture). I know the attachemtn will be stripped off for the list but
thought perhaps you would find it useful.

I paint them way in advance (months or years) so the paint gets really
dry since they are nicely placed to get hit with any drips from the fuel
pump area.
