Fred,

I couldn't agree with you more.

I have spent many hours piecing together Nelson's articles from the Way Back 
machine. I didn't spend 
that time because I thought he was dispensing sloppy information.

I could not do my restoration without Nelson's help through his Buckeye 
articles. I use them constantly.

I think something that is being overlooked in all this is Nelson's audience. He 
was speaking to 
people who are restoring cars that have been sitting in the back lot rusting 
for 30 years. I don't 
think the engineers at Girling were talking to the same audience or to the same 
situation.

As they say, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating". If someone's brake 
calipers have failed 
from following Nelson directions, it would be nice to hear about it. So far I 
have not. I have heard 
just the opposite.

I will follow Nelson's advice and split the calipers just as many others have. 
If my brake calipers 
fail because of it, I guess it'll be my problem. But I'll wear my seat belt 
just in case.... :-)
