Well remember, it has only been 10 years since the internet started to
become of interest to non-geeks.  Before then you could safely assume
that the person on the other side of the keyboard had at least one
technical degree or was upper class man working on a technical degree.
The person o the other side almost always worked in education, was a
tech track student or high tech. 15 years ago if you couldn't figure out
a UNIX shell language and vi you were not on the net.

Used to be geeks-R-Us now the person on the other end could be anyone
with any background.
