TR4 wind wings - mounting question

I recently got a set of used AMCO wind wings for my TR4, and I'm trying to
figure out the preferred method of mounting them. I'm hoping that the list
can provide first-hand information on this.

The mounting appears to involve clamping to the same metal edge that the
fuzzy weather stripping covers.  Does this require cutting gaps in the
weather stripping? Will it interfere with the operation of the windows?
