TR4 Jointing Compound

Hi All, Finally have all my machine work done, and
starting to assemble my engine. The Bentley Manual
states that on the rear and front sealing blocks, you
need to soak the felt in jointing compound. Looked for
some at my local Napa, and they weren't sure what
jointing compound is. So my question is, what should I
use for this application? TIA Mike
