If I understand the question rightly, the piano hinge mounts so that once
installed, the "bulky" part of the hinge actually shows underneath the full
length of the glove box door when fully closed. The hinge's countersunk
screw holes are above (or "on top" of the lip of the glove box opening in
the dash. The four small screws go in from the top, and the four tiny nuts
and washers go underneath from the backside of the dash.
