I have a period "Mitchell foreign interchange service" manual which
covers TR 2 through 3B, TR4, 4A 250,6 SPITFIRE GT-6 STAG AND 2000.

As regards the "lid assembly" it says the following.

TRT4 & TR4A 1177A TR250 1177B ( These are interchange ID numbers)

Moving to the cross reference section: " 1177.... A & B interchange by
switching hinges. Difference also is in emblem location.
A 850442 Triumph TR4 & TR4A NA

B 813650 Triumph TR250 $87.50

That being said it lists the hinges for 4, 4A and 250 as part # 604917-B

It makes no reference to trim, letters or emblems.

As regard the short /long hood bulge the following clue is provided.

HOOD ASSEMBLY
TR4 Before chassis# CT6430 1150A
             After chassis # CT6430 1150B
TR250 1150C

Interchange data" A B & C interchange less hinges and hardware.

A: Part # replaced by C w/o safety catch provision
TRIUMPH TR4 before Chassis # CT6430

B: 904130 w/ safety catch provision Triumph TR4A NA

C: 908031 w/ safety catch provision Triumph TR4 from chassis #
CT6430

Triumph TR250

This ) 1975

From this I would hazard a guess that CT6430 was the changeover to the
long bulge and also the point at which the safety catch on the hood
release was added.

Does this correspond to other sources?
Cheers all
