Paul, are you sure you are installing the longer bridge pieces between the two
manifolds, and turning them so they bear on both manifolds ?  They're a bit hard
to see, but of course it's very important that they be installed properly.

Not unless you also double-gasket 1&2.  The manifolds are rigid and supposedly
flat, likewise the head surface is rigid and supposedly flat.  If the rear stack
of gaskets is taller than the front stack, the surfaces will no longer be
parallel.  You'll increase both the chances of a leak, and of breaking the
exhaust manifold.

IMO, no.  It won't handle exhaust heat and makes a mess besides.  If everything
is right, the TRactor motor will seal easily.  If not, then RTV isn't likely to
help, IMO.

Depends on the particular glasspacks in question.  The stock exhaust on very
early TRs was a single glasspack, but the factory later switched to two of them
to moderate the exhaust note somewhat.
