Bill,
The TR6 ones have a metal insert that runs the length of the visor. Are you
sure it's not there and covered by the foam? Try and feel for it or maybe
check with a magnet.

Thanks to everyone for the replies!  Here's the one remaining dillema.
The new sun vistors have holes only in the vinyl covering.  The foam appears
to be a solid piece without a hole through it for the bar.  I presume I can
just push something with a small diameter through the foam (I'm thinking a
coat hanger), and then push the rod through, yes?

If the 250 visors are the same as the TR6, it's just a push on fit.
Also, I found that the easiest way to keep the visor from flopping down
was to put a very slight bend in the rod before sliding the visor over
the rod.
