Yes, with the proviso that early TR2s didn't use adapters but rather had
special wire wheel hubs, ala MG.
Stags also use adapters.  The "small" Triumphs (Spitfire, Herald, etc.) have
a different bolt circle.

Like most automotive names, I suspect it's just the product of some
overheated brain in Marketing.  Most often, it refers to an open 2-seater
performance car, but there have even been hatchbacks labeled as 'Spyder' as
well as "2+2 Spyders".

Doesn't appear to be Italian or Latin at all, rather it's the middle-English
spelling of 'spider'.  Still Alfa Romeo has been using it for a long time
(earliest reference I could find was a 1938 model), so I guess you could say
it is part of the language today.
