A friend of mine uses a tow dolly regularly, including taking his Lancia
race car on a 600 mile trip this weekend, and has towed cars all over
the country with it. There are some legal issues in some states
(particularly California) where the car with any wheels on the ground
has to be licensed or permitted, and a tow dolly requires regular
inspection and maintenance of things like welds and bearings and wiring,
but it does get the job done with ease. I have also used a tow dolly
for many years to tow everything from a Land Rover to a Bugeye, although
I prefer a trailer, since I can store it. Hope this helps!
