On my TR4 (same basic arrangement) I was fortunate that it lifted out 
with a bit of effort... by 'frozen' Bob probably means that sometimes it 
appears the pieces were assembled whilst the paint was still wet.  Paint 
= Glue in this case.  Also cases of the shaft rusting to the housing but 
I think that is rarer.

You might try some MILD hammering on the bottom of the pin... leave the 
nut on the end of the shaft to protect the threads.

Also a good idea to thread the nut on the end of the shaft a bit while 
you are trying to lift it off -- in case it lets go suddenly you won't 
going flying out over the boot.

If the shaft is truly married to it's holder I think the usual technique 
is to undo the bolts of that holder so you can work it/twist it on the 
shaft to free things up.
