Thanks to all those who replied with their experiences with the broken
check strap anchors. I'm not alone.
It looks like I've stumbled into one of the few parts on these cars that
is commonly needed but doesn't have an off-the-shelf replacement.
I think I'll try to weld up a backing plate to be bolted inside the door
that can receive the check strap. Or something.
Too bad those guys at 'ARE' don't have a product like this made from
stainless.
