Lots of important questions. I have 3 kids that all wanted the small mouth =
3. Daughter and 2 sons. I have done a frame up and restoring it back to fac=
tory (still working on it but getting there). I have footed the bill for al=
l parts and most will know it=E2=80=99s not cheap. Whoever gets it will dri=
ve it the way I did. Not a big deal at all. Live in Canada and drove it all=
over the western US as far as Mexico. A great experience.

Choice of who will get it came down to a few factors. Oldest son wanted it =
because he is the oldest. Unfortunately not mechanically inclined but had n=
o problem getting his hands dirty. Daughter really wanted it because she=E2=
=80=99s my daughter. Have to say I made her take the head off her 1st car t=
o get a valve job done and do oil changes but I was there to help. Great re=
ason but if something happened it would sit. Youngest son wants it AND he h=
as helped in the tear down and the rebuild. He=E2=80=99s a white collar wor=
ker but mechanically inclined. Not afraid to work on it and get er done. He=
=E2=80=99s offered to help paying for the body work. He=E2=80=99s the logic=
al choice. Was always a bit concerned what the others would say but they bo=
th understand completely. Was never a choice to sell it and split the money=
=2E Family heirloom.

My 2 cents

All good advice. But i think the most important question has not been ask=
ed.

If she really really wants this car, what you are doing is quite wonderful=
=2E However, if she is not prepared for sidescreens, a top that is diffi=
cult to put up, no power anything, i question whether this is a gift or a =
burden. I know that my daughter, who is 28, would not like this gift. S=
he had grown up around these cars, and has some understanding of what owner=
ship means. She is very much on board with inheriting my 350z convertible=
, manual shift.

Just my 2 cents

This thread is getting silly. Just bring a car to original factory spec
with all the parts in spec then have it professionally serviced per the
factory manual. They were considered dependable drivers when new and
many that have problems today experience what happens from worn parts
and delayed maintenance.
