One approach that several of us have used is to make panels from
pre-coated aluminum. This material is used by circle track racers. My
source was Performance Bodies, phone 1-800-RACING1 although I suppose
any circle track racers' shop can supply it. They will supply it in
sheets 5 ft x 2 ft x .040 in basic colors for $19.50 a sheet. We have
used the large head pop rivets of the same colors. Or, if you want to
make paper or cardboard templates, they will make up panels for you and
roll a bead maybe 1" inside the edge of the panel, a nice finishing
touch. I believe the price for door panels, rear 3/4 panels, and trunk
bulkhead for my car was something like $85 with them doing all the
fabricating.
YEAH I KNOW IT'S NOT AUTHENTIC but it is fireproof and "period"
authentic per SCCA rules of the era and it looks rally nice etc etc
