There is a block at the housing end foward before the handle connection. it goes through the tunnel wall and bolts inside the car on the right side. This is the housing stop, Its built onto the cable

Veey easy fix, Just disconect the cable and housing at the Carb, Pull whats left of the cable from under the dash out, Remove the housing from up top and install in reverse order. Carl E.
