I have done a lot of web browsing lately, looking for engine swaps people have done in the past to their Spitfires. With the exception of installing a GT6 engine, the only engine swaps that I have fo

Michael, I would suggest using a Lotus Elan engine. They are nothing more than a Ford Courtina block with a twin cam Lotus crossflow head installed. They are very durable, and are capable off making

While the Miata engine would certainly give you the reliability and power you seek, Since it is an overhead cam design, I'd bet the engine is too tall to be hidden below the stock bonnet. Joe

There again, with the overhead cam setup, I'd doubt that it would fit well below the Spit bonnet. Joe

I like the idea of the Rover 215 swap. Technically it's still British, but because it's a Buick engine, parts should be easier to find than Lotus. Otherwise, I can't think of any "modern" non-OC engi

I don't know first hand, but I have heard that the parts for that Suburu engine are very expensive. A friend in Washington was elaborating on that a while back! Joe P.S. I was once thinking of using

A Subaru Boxer motor like an EA82 would NEVER fit in a spitfire without extensive modifications to the front suspension. The engine is not that long but is WIDE simply because the cylinders stick out

OK, so no boxer...how about a Nissan SR20DE? 2.0 Liter, aluminum block engine that puts out 140HP in stock trim. Good aftermarket support, but it is a FWD engine in the U.S. The Japanese market has R
