Looking to the wear signs of the bearing coming from the old clutch kit, the graphite did not wear the same at all places. This means the pressure on the thowout bearing is not the same at every spot

I fully agree - but then at both the engine side as the gearbox side whenever each is possible. I have had this done when the engine had t ogo out anyway for respray. It was worthwile cost = minimal

I cleaned the contacts without loosening the adjustment setting. I did not sand the contacts, but cleaned these with a whetstone. Works fine now. Contacts were havily pitted, the stroke is a bit long

Fully agree! I've found most trouble is in the bullet receptacles. Replace these if in any doubt! This should help I think. Lots of patience is needed though! Good luck Hans '71 BGT went on electrics
