Ive been draining the hose since the mid 70s. When I bought my first Harley. You always turned the gas off and then lifted the hose so all the gas went into the tank(s) and didn't drip onto the paint

Dont over torque when tightening AND I would buy an extra set of gaskets to take with- that way you wont need them BUT go witout a spare set and see if you are lucky enough someone else has some. TTT

Locking a Tiger might give you a better feeling but even w/ the hardtop on, it wouldnt slow a thidf down. Think about security that a normal thief wont know about. Like a hidden switch for the fuel
